This editorial policy explains how Emailwish publishes blog guides and app roundups.

Our standards

  • We write from ecommerce operator and product experience — Emailwish is built by people who have run Shopify stores.
  • Product claims (pricing, features, integrations) are checked against official sources when we publish or update a guide.
  • We clearly label Emailwish when it appears in comparisons or roundups.
  • We update high-traffic posts when major product or pricing details change.

How we review Shopify apps

Listicles compare apps on setup effort, core features for store owners, pricing transparency, and fit with email/automation workflows. Rankings can change as products evolve.

How we build app roundups

Our “best apps” roundups, such as the best email marketing apps for Shopify, follow the same method every time.

The criteria we score

Every app in a roundup is scored on the same criteria. The first five carry the most weight because they decide whether your emails actually make money. For email marketing apps, the criteria are:

  1. Deliverability. Do the emails land in the inbox? See how we test it below.
  2. Ease of use and setup time. How long it takes from installing the app to having the first automated flow live.
  3. Prebuilt flows. How many Shopify flows (welcome, abandoned cart, browse abandonment, post-purchase, win-back, review request) come ready to switch on, and how much you still have to write and design yourself.
  4. Built-in functionality versus integrations. Whether chat, reviews, popups and wishlists are included, or each needs a separate app, subscription and setup.
  5. Shopify data connection. Whether orders, products, browsing and checkout events sync in real time, or only names and email addresses.
  6. Real price as you grow. The cost at 500, 2,500 and 10,000 contacts, and what the free plan actually includes.
  7. Revenue reporting. Whether you can see how much each flow and campaign earned.
  8. SMS and other channels. Whether SMS is included, a paid add-on or unavailable.
  9. Support. Whether live chat is available, on which plans, and whether they help you move over from another tool.
  10. Templates and design. Ecommerce-ready templates and an editor that produces emails that look good on mobile.
  11. Compliance. GDPR support, consent tracking and double opt-in.
  12. Shopify App Store rating (lower weight). A useful signal, but ratings favour older apps with large install bases, so it counts for less than hands-on criteria.

Roundups for other kinds of apps (chat, reviews, popups, wishlists) use the same approach with criteria that fit that category, and the article lists them.

How Emailwish appears in roundups

Emailwish is our own product. When it appears in a roundup, we list it first and say so in a disclosure at the end of the article. Every other tool is judged against the same criteria, and we don’t earn affiliate commissions from any tool we mention.

Prices and dates

Prices are the starting monthly price shown on each vendor’s pricing page or Shopify App Store listing, and the article states the month we checked them (for example, “as of October 2026”). Most email tools scale with your contact count, so we also note what the price looks like as your list grows. If we can’t confirm a figure, such as a rating for a vendor’s current Shopify app, we show a dash instead of guessing.

How we test deliverability

To compare deliverability fairly, we run an identical inbox-placement test for every tool in a roundup using GMass: the same email is sent through each tool, and we record whether it lands in the inbox, the promotions tab or spam across the major mailbox providers. We publish the results with the test date. Until a test is complete, the article says the results are coming and we don’t make deliverability claims for any tool based on it.

Updates and the update log

Every article shows its “Last updated” date at the top, with a “See updates” link to a “We keep our content up to date” box listing what changed and when, such as new prices, renamed products, and tools added or removed. We re-check prices and features when we update an article.
